My first real job, which lasted all the way through high school, was as a part-time clerk in a pharmacy where most of the staff chain-smoked and the full-time clerks, all adult women, led rocky, desperate, and extremely interesting lives. I dusted shelves, sold Mars bars and Red Hots, stocked hemorrhoid creams, and dreamed of escape.

Born in San Francisco, and currently living in central Mexico, I won the Many Voices Project Prize for Prose in 2019 for my debut story collection, The Paper Demon, which was published in 2021 by New Rivers Press. These and other stories have appeared in many fine publications including Sequestrum, Bellevue Literary Review, New England Review, failbetter, Litro, and Orca.
